Meet #GPP

Kindness is the Greatest Superpower of all!

The Greater Purpose Project 501 (c) (3) charitable organization: The mission of #GPP's Youth Heroes Program is to empower students of all ages and socio-economic backgrounds to discover their inner superhero of serving their local and global communities. #GPP's Youth Heroes Program provides students the opportunity to discover their purpose and value through rich and diverse service projects that benefit themselves and the communities they live in.

Did you know?  Students that engage in meaningful service opportunities are less likely to engage in risky behavior (i.e. drugs, alcohol, etc.) and more likely to graduate from high school and attend college.  This is important to us!!  All children deserve to experience the personal benefits and life-changing experiences that volunteering provides. We provide students with the tools they need to identify and help solve local issues.

Our team works closely with schools and youth organizations (online and in-person) to develop and execute student-lead Greater Purpose Projects that benefit their communities.  Some of our service projects include but are not limited to: pen-pal packages and letters for the US Military Troops serving overseas, food drive challenges to support local food pantries, quench bags for our homeless neighbors, Jared boxes (care packages/cards) for our pediatric patients at a local hospital, student-led fundraisers for our local Phoenix Children's Hospital and sister orphanage Puente de Amistad in Nicaragua, Easter baskets for Child Crisis Arizona, and many more!

Meet Patrick Taylor

We remember Patrick Taylor as a father, husband, firefighter and Multiple Sclerosis Warrior whose super powers include transforming pain into a greater purpose of helping others. Pat's career in the fire service began in his hometown of Canton, Ohio. While there, Canton's Mayor awarded him for saving the life of a young boy whose home was swallowed in flames. Patrick was delighted to ditch the snow for sunshine when he moved to Arizona to continue his career. While in Tucson, Pat worked for Golder Ranch and Drexel Heights fire departments. After retiring from the fire service, Pat was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis but he never let the disease slow him down. Pat began training for the Paralympics and rode 15 miles in his wheelchair on his way to the gym. During those workouts, Pat stopped by charity drives along the way and donated whatever item he could carry on his lap.  That's when Patrick met Lauren Burgoyne, a Tucson, news reporter who was inspired by Patrick's story of transforming pain into a Greater Purpose of helping others. The two became instant friends and shared a passion for exalting the stories of real-life superheroes. Patrick and Lauren set out on a mission to connect people to their Greater Purpose of serving their local and global communities, and the nonprofit, The Greater Purpose Project was born.  We lost Patrick in 2015 but his legacy lives on in The Greater Purpose Project 501 (c)(3) organization.

Last year, The Greater Purpose Project School Heroes Program engaged more than 3500 students in Greater Purpose Projects!
