About Us

The Animal Rescue Foundation is a no-kill, all volunteers, animal rescue and shelter located in Beacon New York. Since our founding in 1986, we rescue, rehabilitate, shelter and find forever homes for thousands of cats and dogs. Many of our dogs are rescued from kill shelters and relocated to ARF via air or ground transport networks. All of ARF’s animals are vet checked, vaccinated, and spayed or neutered before adoption. In addition, we house and care for those that need more time to find just the right forever home. For some, elderly animals and those with disabilities or medical conditions, where adoption is unlikely, we provide permanent care so they can live out their lives safely and comfortably. As a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, we depend on fundraising events like this and donations to continue our work.

Description

Join the Annual ARF 5K RUN & WALK With The Dogs and help save the lives of hundreds of cats and dogs! This event is Beacon's only nonprofit sporting event dedicated to saving animals' lives. On this day, animal lovers and athletes of all ages lace up and hit the pavement in support of ARF where 100% of the profits go to support the animals

 

We are happy to announce a new event: The 1K KIDS FUN RUN is open and limited to 50 children ages 3-10. All 1K participants will receive a finisher prize. 

Special Instructions & Notices

While traffic is pretty light this time of day, the roads are not closed, the roads are open to traffic. For your safety and the safety of all participants, please stay on the sidewalks. Use extreme caution at intersections. Those with strollers should use extreme caution especially when approaching other runners and allow ample space, particularly on hills. We recommend strollers line up toward the back just so that the large pack has a chance to spread out a bit to minimize any chance of injury.  

All Dogs! You may bring your four-legged companion to this dog-friendly event:

MUST be on NON-RETRACTABLE leash at all times.

Do not leave your pup unattended.

For safety, please start at the back.

Must be well-behaved and non-aggressive with people, children, and other dogs.

Small Children!
Parents with small children, please educate your child on how to approach a dog.  We are always careful watching the crowds and pets to ensure everyone stays safe. IT IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY TO WATCH YOUR CHILD AND OTHER PETS.

Donate products and services to help offset the production cost of this popular event. Fundraise for ARF

Prizes will be awarded to the Top Individual, the Top Team with the highest funds raised, and the Largest Team. 

Top Individual Fundraiser
1) Register for the 5K and select "Become a Fundraiser" to create a fundraising page.
2) Set your Goal, and customize your Fundraiser URL and Story. Invite your friends, families, and co-workers to donate.
3) The Individual with the highest dollar raised will receive a prize.

Top Team Fundraiser
1) The team captain registers as the first person on the team and Creates a Team.
2) Set your Goal and customize your Story. Invite your friends, family, and co-workers to register as a team AND donate!!!
3) Each team member registers for the race and joins the team by selecting the Team Name from the list of already registered teams.
4) The team with the highest dollar raised will receive a prize.

Largest Participating Team
Follow 1, 2, and 3 from the Top Team instruction.

4) The team with the largest number of participating members will receive a prize.

*NOTE: Individuals within a team ARE NOT ELIGIBLE for Top Individual Fundraising Prize.

Virtual Experience

Who? Anyone
When? Begins May 19th through the end of the month
Why? To help support the animals at ARF
Where? The comfort of your home or in your neighborhood
For the rest of the month of May, you can run or walk your 5K (3.1 mile) anywhere, anytime you choose. Simply register and complete your event by May 31st then if you wish, you can upload your finish time into our virtual leaderboard on RunSignup.

How to do a virtual 5K
1 - You can run, walk or run/walk a 5K course near you, map out your own, or use a treadmill.
2 - To keep track of your activity time you may use a stopwatch, GPS watch, or smartphone.
3 - To track your distance, you may map out your activity or use a GPS watch, choose your route.
4 - Grab your pup and go. 
5 - Make it fun: Costumes are welcomed and if you participated in any of our prior year events, wear your t-shirt from that event and take a selfie and post on your social media and tag ARFBeacon.
6 - Upload your time as soon as you've finished and within the deadline.
